We’re a small, Australian family-owned business started from the roots (pun intended) and built from the ground up. We’re committed to sourcing our organic teas by partnering only with farms and plantations that share our vision for creating produce with minimal impact to our environment.

Creating our teas comes with a responsibility to ensure we bring you the very best herbs and highest grade tea leaves that are clean, sustainably and ethically sourced. I have always loved tea and that really grew once I moved to Singapore and discovered TWG tea, luxurious tea tins, decadent high teas and divine blends. From there I moved to South Korea and discovered green tea, the plantations were lush, green and filled the country side! That’s where I really discovered the difference between a top grade and low grade of tea, steamed, fermented or pan it was amazing how much went into creating teas.

Back home in Australia my tea obsession took a back seat to a busy life, I still always had a pot of tea brewing. The ritual of making a cup of tea is a real comfort to me in happy and difficult times. However during these times I begun to notice that I had started to have some mild reactions to tea. This was a wake up call as having a cup of tea was part of my daily ritual, which also gave me a chance to sit down and just take some time out for myself, even for just a few minutes a day.

I went on a journey to find out why I was having these reactions. I discovered through testing that I was having reactions not to the tea itself but the process in which mass produced tea is made, with synthetic chemicals and sprays.
 
This is where Athella Tea began to form and today I have discovered a whole new world of teas and the exciting, regenerative and sustainable farming practices that are used to grow them. I want to be able to share what I have learnt and to bring to you the same quality of teas that are clean, without the extra artificial  chemicals that I now get to enjoy with my family and friends, so that you can too.
