Code of Conduct

Welcome to the Second Edit Community, our exclusive members-only community for brand and retail owners, as well as emerging and established small businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Our community is dedicated to fostering a supportive and empowering environment where members can share ideas, network, and collaborate to drive business growth and success. To ensure that all members feel safe, respected, and gain value from the Community, we have established the following Membership Code of Conduct. By joining our community, you agree to abide by these rules:

No Solicitation Policy: While our community serves as a platform for members to be the face of their brand and share their products and services, we strive to maintain a balance between self-promotion and mutual support. Members are encouraged to discuss and showcase their offerings in a manner that fosters long-term partnerships and collaborative growth. Appropriate channels are designated for sharing information about your brand, and we encourage doing so in a way that contributes to the conversation and community learning.

However, overt marketing, repetitive, or non-conversational posts and unsolicited private messages are not permitted. Our aim is to avoid the community feeling like a marketplace (our Facebook group acts on this behalf) and instead maintain it as a space for genuine connection and support. Members should focus on building relationships and providing value to fellow members rather than promoting. Violation of this nuanced approach may result in moderation of content or further actions as outlined in our warning and removal system.

By joining our network, you agree to engage in sharing that is respectful, relevant, and adds to the collective knowledge and growth of all members, creating a balanced and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

Respect for Others: Our community is made up of diverse members with various experiences, backgrounds, and stages in their business journey. While we foster robust discussions and encourage the sharing of different viewpoints, it's imperative that all interactions are conducted with respect and courtesy, free from personal attacks or abusive language.

We recognize the importance of respect with clear and timely communication in business dealings. As such, when members reach out to each other regarding products or services, we expect both parties to communicate openly and close the loop effectively. If you receive information, a quote or a proposal, please respond even if your answer is no. This respect for others' time and effort not only fosters a more efficient and professional environment but also builds trust and reliability within our community.

By participating in our network, you agree to engage in communications that are considerate and constructive, ensuring all parties are informed and no member's time is wasted.

Maintain a Professional Profile: To foster trust and professionalism, members are encouraged to maintain an up-to-date LinkedIn profile or equivalent professional online presence. This helps ensure transparency and trust within our network, allowing members to connect confidently.

Confidentiality: Discussions, shared ideas, and resources within our community are confidential and intended solely for member benefit. Members must respect the privacy and intellectual property of fellow members and the community as a whole.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations: Members must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of Australia and New Zealand, including intellectual property laws, trade practices, and privacy legislation.

Facilitation of Opportunities: Second Edit prides itself on fostering an environment where brands, retailers, and business owners can connect, collaborate, and potentially form valuable partnerships. We are thrilled to facilitate these connections and offer opportunities for members to meet and explore synergies.
However, it's important for all members to understand that while Second Edit provides the platform for these connections, we are not a party to any deals or transactions that occur as a result of meetings within the community.

Liability and Transaction Safety: Members are responsible for their own business dealings and must exercise due diligence in all transactions. Second Edit is not liable for the outcome of any agreements or transactions made between members. We strongly recommend using secure and reputable payment platforms, such as PayPal, for transactions and conducting thorough due diligence, especially with new contacts. This approach helps protect your interests and ensures a safer transaction environment for all parties involved.

Reporting Violations: If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to the community administrators. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.

Warning and Removal System for Non-Compliant Members

First Warning: When a member does not adhere to the Membership Code of Conduct, our community administrators will issue a first warning. This warning will specify the conduct violation and provide clear guidance on how to rectify the situation. We believe in the power of education and the opportunity for growth, and we expect members to take this chance to align with our community standards.

Second Warning: If a member continues to disregard the Membership Code of Conduct after the first warning, a second, more stern warning will be issued. This will again detail the violation and outline the imminent consequences of further non-compliance, which may include temporary suspension or immediate permanent removal from the community.

Temporary Suspension: Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, the community administrators may opt for a temporary suspension as an intermediate step before permanent removal. This is to provide a clear signal about the seriousness of the situation and allow time for reflection and change.

Permanent Removal: Continual non-compliance, or particularly severe violations, including sending unsolicited bulk messages will result in immediate and permanent removal from the community. Should this unfortunate action be necessary, the member will be informed of the decision and the specific reasons for it. Please understand that there will be no refund or partial reimbursement of membership fees for members who are removed due to violations of our code.

Review Process: We understand that misunderstandings can occur, and we believe in fairness. Members facing potential removal may request a review of their case, providing any additional context or information for consideration by an impartial panel within the community leadership.

By joining our community, you commit to upholding our Membership Code of Conduct and acknowledge the warning and removal system for non-compliant members. We reserve the right to modify or update these protocols as necessary. Your cooperation is crucial in maintaining a safe, respectful, and empowering space for all members to connect, grow, and succeed.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Trial Period: New members are welcomed with a 7-day trial period to explore and experience the community firsthand. During this trial, you are free to cancel at any time without any charge, allowing you to fully engage with all that our community has to offer with peace of mind. Note: trial periods can vary in durations due to promotions.

Cancellation and Access: Should you decide to cancel your membership after the trial period, access to the group will continue until the last day of your current billing period. This ensures you receive the full value for the time paid.

Rejoining the Community: We understand circumstances change, and members may wish to rejoin. Please note, if you cancel and request to rejoin more than twice in a calendar year, we reserve the right to decline further membership to maintain community integrity. Additionally, rejoining members will be subject to the current membership rate, forfeiting any previous rate held.

Conduct Violations: Members removed due to conduct violations will not receive a refund or reimbursement. Furthermore, such members will face restrictions from re-entering the group, upholding our commitment to a safe and respectful community environment.
