Code of Conduct
Welcome to the Second Edit Community, our exclusive members-only community for brand and retail owners, as well as emerging and established small businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Our community is dedicated to fostering a supportive and empowering environment where members can share ideas, network, and collaborate to drive business growth and success. To ensure that all members feel safe, respected, and gain value from the Community, we have established the following Membership Code of Conduct. By joining our community, you agree to abide by these rules:
No Solicitation Policy: While our community serves as a platform for members to be the face of their brand and share their products and services, we strive to maintain a balance between self-promotion and mutual support. Members are encouraged to discuss and showcase their offerings in a manner that fosters long-term partnerships and collaborative growth. Appropriate channels are designated for sharing information about your brand, and we encourage doing so in a way that contributes to the conversation and community learning.
However, overt marketing, repetitive, or non-conversational posts and unsolicited private messages are not permitted. Our aim is to avoid the community feeling like a marketplace (our Facebook group acts on this behalf) and instead maintain it as a space for genuine connection and support. Members should focus on building relationships and providing value to fellow members rather than promoting. Violation of this nuanced approach may result in moderation of content or further actions as outlined in our warning and removal system.
By joining our network, you agree to engage in sharing that is respectful, relevant, and adds to the collective knowledge and growth of all members, creating a balanced and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
Respect for Others: Our community is made up of diverse members with various experiences, backgrounds, and stages in their business journey. While we foster robust discussions and encourage the sharing of different viewpoints, it's imperative that all interactions are conducted with respect and courtesy, free from personal attacks or abusive language.
We recognize the importance of respect with clear and timely communication in business dealings. As such, when members reach out to each other regarding products or services, we expect both parties to communicate openly and close the loop effectively. If you receive information, a quote or a proposal, please respond even if your answer is no. This respect for others' time and effort not only fosters a more efficient and professional environment but also builds trust and reliability within our community.
By participating in our network, you agree to engage in communications that are considerate and constructive, ensuring all parties are informed and no member's time is wasted.
Maintain a Professional Profile: To foster trust and professionalism, members are encouraged to maintain an up-to-date LinkedIn profile or equivalent professional online presence. This helps ensure transparency and trust within our network, allowing members to connect confidently.
Confidentiality: Discussions, shared ideas, and resources within our community are confidential and intended solely for member benefit. Members must respect the privacy and intellectual property of fellow members and the community as a whole.
Compliance with Laws and Regulations: Members must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of Australia and New Zealand, including intellectual property laws, trade practices, and privacy legislation.
Facilitation of Opportunities: Second Edit prides itself on fostering an environment where brands, retailers, and business owners can connect, collaborate, and potentially form valuable partnerships. We are thrilled to facilitate these connections and offer opportunities for members to meet and explore synergies.
However, it's important for all members to understand that while Second Edit provides the platform for these connections, we are not a party to any deals or transactions that occur as a result of meetings within the community.
Liability and Transaction Safety: Members are responsible for their own business dealings and must exercise due diligence in all transactions. Second Edit is not liable for the outcome of any agreements or transactions made between members. We strongly recommend using secure and reputable payment platforms, such as PayPal, for transactions and conducting thorough due diligence, especially with new contacts. This approach helps protect your interests and ensures a safer transaction environment for all parties involved.
Reporting Violations: If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to the community administrators. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.
